Push-to-talk, commonly called PTT, allows users to communicate quickly by pressing a button before speaking. When the PTT button is pressed, the radio enters transmit mode and sends the user’s voice to other radios or users configured within the communication system. Releasing the button normally returns the radio to receiving mode. This simple process makes two-way radios particularly useful when teams need fast communication without making phone calls.
